This is the final Offshore Report of the year!
Manasquan Inlet
The final tuna trip of the year sailed Saturday to Sunday on the party boat Gambler, and was good, Capt. Bob said. Nothing bit at night, but longfin tuna turned on just before daybreak to 8 a.m. A few patrons landed none, but some whacked two and three. The Gambler is now fishing for striped bass daily, and sea bass trips will be slated for December.
A mixed-bag trip looked for bluefin tuna Sunday aboard the inshore grounds, “even with the lack of reports,” a report on Andrea’s Toy Charters’ Web site said. The fish finder read the tuna, but the trip trolled, chunked and jigged for the fish, and none bit. So the anglers wreck fished, reeling up 25 keeper sea bass, more than 30 throwbacks and two keeper cod. After an hour, the captain heard about great striped bass fishing close to shore to the south. The trip motored there, finding the tail end of a bite, adding three keeper stripers and 15 bluefish to 12 pounds to the catch. Andrea’s Toy specializes in mixed-bag fishing for greater fun, better chances of hooking up and more variety for dinner.
