The island is reportedly
the only uninhabited
barrier island on the East Coast,
according to Riptide.
Being uninhabited there is at
least rare, especially in N.J.
Little Beach was a community
in the early 1900s,
and ruins remain, including
a life-saving station, power-line
poles and some docks.
Only researchers are allowed
on the island, with a permit.
