Fin-Nor Marquesa

Don’t you love
when tackle
manufacturers
keep outdoing themselves and
the competition?

That adds up to better products
for anglers.

Fin-Nor’s Marquesa, a lever-drag reel introduced in late 2009,
part of the company’s 2010 products, is built to be stronger
but lighter, more compact and faster, for fighting big fish.

“Marquesa is classic Fin-Nor all the way, with stunning good looks yet
a no-nonsense approach to fishing function,” the company says.

The engineers reportedly developed the Marquesa from scratch, enabling them to design the reel with an open mind, “instead of
trying to work around old parts and concepts,” Fin-Nor says.

With a forged, machined aluminum frame and spool, the reel comes in four topless models and two top-bar models.

The topless versions are for when anglers want finger contact with the line for control, like with live-bait fishing.

The top-bar versions are for when no finger contact with the line is used, like with trolling or kite fishing. The top-bar reels sport an adjustable, innovative, the company says, bait clicker for current, drift and winds.

All the models come with a fast, single-speed, 6.1 to 1 gear ratio.

Features also include a carbon-fiber drag system built to be super smooth – “one of the strongest drag systems ever put into a reel,” the company says, “stronger, in fact, than many ‘international-type’ reels that are much bigger and heavier”; machined, stainless steel main and pinion gears; a six-bearing drive system;  continuous anti-reverse; and more.

The models:

Model            Braid                           Mono
MA12             270 yds. /50 lb.           270 yds. /15 lb.
MA16             400 yds. /50 lb.           290 yds. /20 lb.
MA20             530 yds. /50 lb.           300 yds. /25 lb.
MA30             670 yds. /50 lb.           320 yds. /30 lb.
MA20T           530 yds. /50 lb.           360 yds. /20 lb. (top bar model)
MA30T           670 yds. /50 lb.           450 yds. /20 lb. (top bar model)

Retailing for $259.95 to $319.95, depending on the model, the reels are “unmatched in the $300 lever drag category,” the company says.
