4Play Herring Lures

Herring are a tough bait to beat for catching fish on many different waters from freshwater to salt.

The bait is especially deadly for fishing in large freshwater impoundments where herring live, such as Lake Hopatcong and Round Valley Reservoir in northwestern New Jersey.

Most species from largemouth bass to lake trout will hammer the forage fish, regardless of whether herring naturally live in the waters angled.

Livelining a herring is usually a surefire way to hook-up, and the excitement of a fish crashing the offering is difficult to top.

But some anglers prefer to kick it up a notch, casting artificial lures for the ultimate challenge.

Lures that imitate natural forage are always a good bet for a bite.

4Play Swim and Jerk

Savage Gear has come up with a line of lures that can do a great job of imitating herring with an “S-curve” swimming action that looks awesome.

Savage Gear’s 4Play Herring lures are hard-bodied, plastic, triple-jointed, suspending herring imitations that come in three models for three different types of action.

4Play Liplure

The 4Play Swim and Jerk  is a lipless lure that swims in an erratic S-curve motion when jerked like how lipless lures are usually fished.

The  4Play Liplure features a small lip that causes the lure to swim in a steadier S-curve when reeled in.

4Play Lowrider

The 4Play Lowrider comes with a larger lip that makes the lure travel a little deeper.

The lures come in a large variety of colors.

Seeing is believing. Check out a video showing the lures in action.
