Rescue Stick

Rescue Stick is a throwable rescue flotation device that can be easily thrown to a man overboard or someone in danger of drowning.

Shaped like a stick, tube or pipe, it automatically inflates within seconds of making water contact. A CO2 cartridge inflates the Rescue Stick into a horseshoe-shaped flotation device, or an activation cord can be pulled to manually cause the device to inflate. The victim grabs the horseshoe or places it under the armpits to stay afloat until rescued.

Anyone who can throw a stick should be able to throw the Rescue Stick to someone in danger. The stick measures 14 inches in length and weighs less than a pound. It can be easily stowed in a boat or by the pool, kept within quick access for emergencies.

The Rescue Stick provides 35 pounds of flotation, almost twice the buoyancy of most throw cushions and ring buoys, and can be thrown up to three times as far, the company says. Its shape should also allow better accuracy when thrown.

On boats the Rescue Stick is meant to be kept aboard in addition to the Coast Guard approved, throwable flotation device required in New Jersey. A difference is that the required throwable must be inherently buoyant, usually made of foam. But the Rescue Stick is built to offer considerably more flotation, much greater throwing distance, better accuracy and more convenient storage.

The Rescue Stick is reusable, made to be easy to re-pack and re-arm with a screw-on replacement handle that contains a new CO2 cylinder. It comes with a waterproof storage bag.
