Trophy Teasers

Trophy Teasers in action.

Imagine being able to create a school of baitfish to get the attention of the fish you’re trying to catch, whether it’s tuna, marlin, striped bass, fluke or freshwater fish.

The company Trophy Teasers set out to make that possible.

Trophy Teasers offers a large variety of teasers—or baitfish imitations meant to attract fish—that give the appearance of bait schooling through the water. The idea is that fish will come flying at the school and then attack a hooked bait.

Built with a hologram design reflecting and refracting light, the teasers or individual baitfish imitations come in a variety of combinations: from daisy-chains on spreader bars for big game fishing; to “blankets” or a clear sheet with rows of the baitfish for big game; to leaders with several of the baitfish attached, followed by a hook for a bait, meant for smaller game like fluke, stripers, largemouth bass and pickerel.

The folks at Trophy Teasers apparently spent lots of time studying the ways that fish see. The company says the hologram design stands out to a fish, or grabs its attention, and makes the teaser highly visible to a fish’s eye. Part of the theory is also that the hologram reflects the entire spectrum of color, and eventually a fish will see the color or colors that it likes to eat.

Trophy Teasers have won or placed in major tournaments, according to the company.  These include the Mid Atlantic 500, the Beach Haven Invitational and Wildwood's Duke of Fluke Tournament.

Photos and videos of the products and the company’s web site help with understanding how Trophy Teasers work. The site also includes local tackle shops that carry Trophy Teasers and helpful info.
