fished with Fishguts charters Friday 7/30 for a fun day trip. Got a late start due to weather and then played catch and release with loads of fluke while hoping the ocean would lay down. between 3 of us we must of had 100 fluke in a little over 3 hours it was insane. They were chasing the baits to the surface. We also did a study fresh strip baits outfished GUlp 5:1. after playing with the flukes on Ultralights we took a ride to see if the ocean ws ok it looked doable so off we went to get some calico crabs for togging, here again the fluke got in the way as we could see the fluke coming off the bottom in 3 feet of water to hit the bait as it was dropped down. after a few pulls of the traps we went off into a northernly swell not calm but certainly manageable.
First we stopped on some sea bass pieces and had a nice catch, lots of shorts but the keepers that were there were nice humpys, also got some some big porgy's added a blue and a big red bird to complete my dinner trilogy. after this we ened the day on a spot looking for some Tog, and we found them. landed probably 40 tog in an hour anywhere from 10 inches to 4lbs, keeping only our 1 fish limit each. Awesome day on the water and big thanks to Birch for the great day if you want a great trip call him now. |
