Went fishing in the Delaware River Thursday, 12/15/2005, from 3:25 to 5 PM. Saw my jig disappear inside a calico's mouth on my first cast. Drag went out when I lifted my rod but the fish turned and swam away. Most of the fish that I saw hit my lure this year escaped. Saw some spit out my lure in less than 1 second. Caught 2 calicos to 12" on a 1/16 oz yellow jig with 2" chartreuse grub tail and 2 lb test ultralight spinning tackle. Started snowing soon after I arrived then changed to rain later. Just before I quit another fisherman arrived and said that he caught stripers to 31" this week at Monmouth Beach.
