Brother John and I caught and released 7 striped bass in the Island Beach State Park surf yesterday on a salt shaker, red fin and bucktail teaser. Two were slots - 6 and 5 lbs and saw another slot fish caught. Didn't get a hit until 4:48 PM when a school came in close to the beach. Caught fish on 2 consecutive casts. We lost 4 bass. Fish hit until 5:17 PM. Rough ocean with strong south wind. We caught 98 striped bass in IBSP surf since Monday of last week. 3 were slot fish. I tagged 57. May try again tomorrow. Go fish. |
