Took brother John surf fishing at Island Beach State Park Sunday, 01/01/2006. Looked perfect for plugging but got no hits with first 110 casts in 11 spots. Then caught a short on my first cast in the last spot. Caught 3 on 3 consecutive casts then 2 on consecutive casts. Brother John caught and released a short on a salt shaker. I caught, tagged and released 11 shorts on a red fin and teaser. Brother John and I caught 118 striped bass in IBSP surf past 11 trips including 4 slots to 7 lb. I caught 73 - 59 on a red fin and 14 on bucktail teasers. Tagged 72 and kept 1 6 lb slot that swallowed my plug and was bleeding from the gills. Made 101 salt water fishing trips in 2005 and caught 591 fish. Tagged 467 and got 8 tag returns. 2005 was a good year. |
