Just making everyone aware of new regs for fluke: The summer flounder recreational season was changed to May 6 through October 9, and the minimum size stays at 16½ inches, and the possession limit stays at 8 fish.

Click here for the announcement: http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/news/2006/summerflndr06.htm

In addition, NJ Fish & Wildlife has published its 2006 saltwater fishing regs summary sheet (in pdf format): http://njfishandwildlife.com/pdf/2006/maregsum06.pdf

Also, Frank: About the opening day of winter flounder, Fisherman's Den in Belmar said they tore them up in the Shark River yesterday. See an updated report about that on the Northern New Jersey Inshore Fishing Report. And calls to some of the Central Jersey shops yesterday afternoon sounded like things were a little slow from Manasquan River to northern Barnegat Bay down through the bay to Oyster Creek. There's also some updates from that from yesterday in the Centeral Jersey Coast Inshore Fishing Report. Nick Honachefsky told me he hopped on the Norma-K II from Point Pleasant on the opening morning and that it was a slow pick, but 10 keepers were landed, not too bad, and he expected a better bite in the afternoon, when the water warmed a little.
